Markets Gitter Extend Over Bleak Outlook - Nov 07, 2008

The volatile sessions are back with added fear over inflation, as markets are trading in the narrow range. The indices managed to recover some ground and have pared some of its gains in the early hours of trade. After witnessing rise in the inflation rate, the investors are worried over the chances of further cut in the interest rate by RBI. However, the RBI is clear over the priorities in the current scenario with liquidity being on the top. On the other end, PM is expected to meet the corporate veteran in the industry to take stock of the current credit crunch and bring some stability in the market.

While selling pressure was witnessed in the sectors like Bankex, Metal, Capital Goods and Auto. The market breath is favoring decline, as 1154 stocks are trading in red and about 856 stocks in green on the broader BSE.

At 11.32 AM, the bears are in full control as BSE Sensex lost 84.27 points at 9649.95 whereas NSE Nifty plummets by 10.25 points at 2882.40. The BSE Mid Cap and BSE Small Cap are loosing by 24.29 points and 16.86 points at 3294.12 and 3863.40 respectively.

Losers from the NSE Nifty Pack are M&M down by (5.13%) at Rs359.90 along with ICICI Bank by (4.68%) at Rs413.10, Tata Power by (4.29%) at Rs686.95, ABB ltd by (3.96%) at Rs488.05, and Tata Communication by (3.56%) at Rs491.00.

Losers from the BSE Sensex Pack are ICICI bank down by (5.10%) at Rs412.00 along with M&M by (5.06%) at Rs360.00, Tata Power by (4.26%) at 688.00, Maruti Suzuki by (2.66%) at Rs584.00, and Tata Steel by (2.66%) at Rs181.30.

BSE Banex index is trading lower by 93.30 points at 5348.46. The top losers in the index are Kotak Bank decreased by (5.67%) to Rs.405.95, ICICI Bank down by (4.07%) to Rs416.50, Axis Bank by (3.41%) to Rs.562.80, Indus Ind Bank by (2.59%) at Rs.43.30, followed by Karnataka Bank by (1.39%) to Rs.88.45.

BSE Oil & Gas index is gaining by 62.72 points at 5800.21. The major gainers are HPCL trading up by (7.30%) at Rs.215.95, Indian Oil up by (5.58%) to Rs.362.05, Bharat Petroleum up by (5.52%) to Rs.328.00, Gail India higher by (2.79%) to Rs.208.50, followed by Reliance NAT Res increased by (0.70%) to Rs.50.30.
