The market is trading on the front foot tracking the rise in infrastructure sector output to 5.1% in September 2008 from 2.3% in August this year. Along with this the cut in interest rate by ECB by 50 bps to 3.25% along with Bank of England by 150 bps and Swiss National bank by 50 bps. From the sectoral front, all the indices are trading in positive however most buying is seen from the Oil and gas, Metal, Power and PSU indices that are trading with gains of more than 3% each.
After a dismal opening, the market remains volatile for most of the day but changed its gears after the mid session to trade with good gains. On the global market front, the European Markets are trading higher as both the FTSE 100 and Dax Index are up by 1.20% and 1.67% respectively.
The broader markets are also positive as the BSE Mid Cap and Small Cap are trading with gains of 0.44% and 0.34% respectively at 3,333.13 and 3,893.56 respectively.
The overall market breadth is strong as 1305 stocks are advancing while 1110 stocks are declining in BSE.
Hindalco Industries reported the top gainer from the BSE Sensex pack. It is trading higher by (8.64%) at Rs.61.60 while M&M the top loser down by (1.37%) at Rs.374.
At 2.34PM BSE Sensex is at 10,035.78 higher by 301.56 points and Nifty is at 2,987.90 up by 95.25 points.
The BSE Mid Cap is higher by 1.32 points at 3,447.54 and BSE Small Cap slipped by 14.39 points to 4,020.72.
The BSE Metal index is trading with gains of 193.73 points at 5,187.17. Pushing it are Hindalco Inds trading higher by 8.64% at Rs61.60 along with Nalco by 8.55% at Rs162.55, SAIL by 5.75% at Rs84.60, Sterlite Inds by 4.69% at Rs249, Welspun Guj by 4.14% at Rs120.80, Hind Zinc by 3.18% at Rs307, Sesa Goa by 2.58% at Rs79.50 and NMDC by 2.33% at Rs155.80.
The Power index is up by 58.91 points at 1,761.14. Gainers are Suzlon Energy trading higher by 14.14% at Rs68.60 followed by Reliance Power by 8.48% at Rs119.60, Reliance Infra by 7.08% at Rs541.50, Lanco Infra by 6.78% at Rs167.80, Torrent Power by 6.50% at Rs74.60, Power Grid by 5.78% at Rs74.10 and Neyvelli Lignite by 5.30% at Rs60.55.
