Markets Bounced Back From Yesterday Low - Nov 19, 2008

The markets today made a sharp turnaround from the yesterday’s low and open significantly higher. All the sectorial indices are trading in green in the early trade. The buying is seen among the Metal, Oil & Gas, Banking, Capital Goods, Realty and Power stocks. The BSE Mid Cap and the Small Cap are also trading higher with a gain of around 1%.

The BSE Sensex is now trading around the 9,100 mark and the NSE Nifty above the 2,700 mark.

The Asian markets are also trading mixed today as Nikkei, Hang Sang and Straits Times index are trading lower by 2.21%, 0.22% and 1.06% respectively. While the Shanghai Composite index is trading higher by 2.26%.

The US stock market on Tuesday, rallied in the final hour of trading after a sharp volatile session backed by the better than anticipated results from Hewlett-Packard and home improvement retailer Home Depot. The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) surged by 151.17 points to close at 8,424.75. The NASDAQ Composite (RIXF) index increased by 1.22 points to close at 1,483.27 and the S&P 500 (SPX) grew by 8.37 points to close at 859.12.

The overall market breadth is positive as 861 stocks are advancing whereas 529 stocks are declining on BSE.

Sterlite Industries reported the top gainer from the BSE Sensex pack, as it is trading with a gain of (4.31%) at Rs.227.35 followed by Reliance Industries up by (3.88%) at Rs.1,185.

At 10.33AM, the BSE Sensex was up by 193.34 points at 9,130.54 and the Nifty was up by 54.65 points to 2,737.80.

The BSE Mid Cap increased by 28.57 points to 3,088.89 and the BSE Small Cap advanced by 22.68 points to 3,581.34.

BSE Metal index advancing by 147.11 points or (3.26%) to trade at 4,663.39. The top gainers are Sterlite Industries increased by (4.89%) to Rs.228.60, Ispat Industries up by (4.62%) to Rs.11.09, SAIL inclined by (4.23%) to Rs.64 followed by Jindal Saw grew by (3.69%) to Rs. 281.

BSE Oil & Gas index is trading higher by 144.37 points or (2.59%) to trade at 5,716.39. The major gainers are Aban Offshore inclined by (2.04%) to Rs. 814.05, RNRL up by (1.88%) to Rs.46.10, Cairn India increased by (1.70%) to Rs.137.70 followed by Gail India grew by (1.41%) to Rs.193.75.

L&T is trading higher by (2.19%) at Rs. 780.20. The company has secured a major order valued over Rs.700 crore from HPCL Mittal Energy Limited, a JV of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited and Mittal Energy Investments.

Suzlon Energy is trading higher by (2.57%) at Rs. 51.95. The company reported that it is enetring into the solar energy sector as there is enoromous opprtunity in solar and wind power.
