Market Gaining Momentum After Breaching - Nov 03, 2008

The benchmark Sensex maintaining its momentum on the back of heavy buying by fund houses as well as retailers. This was supported by RBI’s announcement of fresh set of measures to infuse more liquidity into the financial market and firm Asian stocks boosted the domestic bourses. Further, the rupee appreciation also impacted the trading sentiments. On the sectoral front, trader’s on-load positions across the sectors except consumer durables. Steel stocks spurted after government withdrew export duty on items such as pig iron, iron and steel ingots, bars and rods.

Banking stocks extended gains after RBI’s latest initiative to prop up liquidity in the financial system. Auto stocks jumped as lower interest rates may boost auto sales which are largely driven through finance. The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was extremely positive. On BSE, out of 2510 shares, 1861 shares advanced while 589 shares declined. Nearly 60 shares are unchanged.

At 1.30PM, the BSE Sensex is trading higher by 453.76 points at 10241.82 and NSE Nifty is up by 112.15 points at 2997.75.

The BSE Mid Cap is trading higher by 123.85 points at 3323.87 and Small cap is trading higher by 153.14 points at 3918.26.

Gainers from the BSE Sensex pack are Reliance Infra up by (10.95%) at Rs.506.75, along with Tata Motors by (10.59%) at Rs.190.00, DLF Ltd by (10.24%) at Rs.242.80, ICICI Bank (10.22%) at Rs.440.15, SBI by (9.60%) at Rs.1216.05, ICICI Bank (8.93%) at Rs.435.00, Hindalco (8.47%) at Rs.65.30, L&T by (8.26%) at Rs.872.00 and HDFC by (7.39%) at Rs.1894.90.

The BSE Bankex index is up by 358.65 points at 5369.89. Gainers are Federal Bank up by (10.82) at Rs.141.90, ICICI Bank (10.22%) at Rs.440.15, SBI by (9.60%) at Rs.1216.05, Yes Bank (8.54%) at Rs.73.70 and Kotak Bank (8.34%) at Rs.365.00.

The BSE Realty is higher by 127.49 points at 2105.73. Gainers are Orbitco up by (28.25%) at Rs.68.10, along with Penland Ltd by (14.91%) by Rs.23.50, DLF Ltd by (10.24%) at Rs.242.80, Ansal Infra by (9.07%) at Rs.47.50 and Parsvnath by (9.00%) at Rs.44.20.

The BSE Capital Goods index is up by 425.43 points at 7443.04. Scrips trading higher are Reliance Industrial Infra up by (15.58%) at Rs.386.05 along with Siemens Ltd by (13.10%) at Rs.295.35, Punj Lloyd by (9.44%) at Rs.191.25, L&T by (8.26%) at Rs.872.00 and Havells India by (6.46%) at Rs.182.15.
