Sensex Slips Into Red ICICI Bank Drag - Oct 18, 2008

The Sensex opened with a positive gap of 182 points at 10,763, and soon touched a high of 10,787. The index, however, could not hold gains and has slipped into the negative zone and is now down 23 points at 10,558.

Larsen & Toubro has surged nearly 2.5% to Rs 845. TCS and Wipro have rallied over 2% each to Rs 506 and Rs 284, respectively.

ONGC, Mahindra & Mahindra and Ranbaxy have moved up 1.4% each to Rs 815, Rs 458 and Rs 270, respectively.

Reliance, ACC and NTPC are up over 1% each at Rs 1,415, Rs 529 and Rs 168, respectively.

Sterlite has plunged nearly 6% to Rs 281. ICICI Bank has plunged 3.6% to Rs 400.

Reliance Communications (RCom) and Hindalco have shed 2.5% each at Rs 253 and Rs 68, respectively.

Hindustan Unilever and Tata Power have slipped nearly 2% each to Rs 243 and Rs 785, respectively.

SBI, HDFC, Satyam, DLF and HDFC Bank are the other prominent losers.
