Market Are Gaining Ground - Oct 8, 2008

The market are gaining ground and recovered from days low as fresh buying witnessed among the front line indices. The Consumer Durable index is the major contributor of the selling pressure and has under performed the benchmark index today and is now trading with a cut of more than 10%. Apart from that sharp cut is seen in Metal, capital Goods, Oil & Gas and Bank stocks.

The European Markets also trading in negative as recession fears strike market, FTSE 100 and Dax Index fell 6-8%.

The BSE Sensex is now trading below the below the 11,300 level and the NSE Nifty below the 3,500 mark.

The BSE Mid Cap and the BSE Small Cap are also facing huge selling pressure and are trading with a loss of around 7% each.
The overall market breadth is negative as 2268 stocks are declining while 225 stocks are advancing in BSE.

Wipro Ltd reported the top loser from the BSE Sensex pack. It is trading lower by (10.16%) at Rs.275.45 followed by Sterlite Industries down by (9.97%) at Rs.282.75.

At 2.30PM BSE Sensex is at 11,292.64 down by 402 points and Nifty is at 3,490.95 down by 115 points.

The BSE Mid Cap is lower by 305 points at 3,952.1 and BSE Small Cap slipped by 337 points to 4,639.1.
The BSE Metal index is the one of the top loser today trading with a loss of 607.43 points at 6,926.60. The major losers are Gujarat NRE down by (17.20%) at Rs.38.50, Sterlite Industries decreased by (12.67%) at Rs.274.25 followed by Jindal Saw and JSW Steel declined by (12.02%) and (9.18%) to Rs.412.85 and Rs.282.10 respectively.

The BSE Bank index is trading lower by 363.76 points at 5,675.49 as Yes Bank trading down by (11.38%) at Rs91.10 along with ICICI Bank Ltd by (8.36%) at Rs444.65, Axis Bank by (7.92%) at Rs626.25, Canara Bank by (7.53%) at Rs163.90 and Bank of India is trading down by (7.11%) at Rs761.75.

The most active shares on NSE are Reliance Industries trading at Rs.1628 with a total traded quantity of 5570615 shares followed by ICICI Bank trading at Rs.443.20 with a total traded quantity of 10303265 shares.
