The US stocks tumbled for the seventh straight day amid fears of global recession. Also, yesterday for the first day after the short selling ban been lifted.
The Dow Industrial Average index slumped 679 points to 8,579. The index slipped 868 points in the last two trading days, and is down a whopping 21% (2,272 points) in the last seven trading sessions.
The Nasdaq shed 95 points at 1,645.
Among the Indian ADRs - Sterlite nose-dived over 10% to $5.88. Wipro slumped 7.5% to $7. HDFC Bank, Dr.Reddy's, Satyam, Infosys, Patni Computers, Tata Motors and Tata Communications were down 2-5% each.
On the other hand, MTNL zoomed over 10% to $3.09, and Genpact gained 3.3% at $7.75.
