The benchmark indices continued to trade in negative territory, as other Asian and European indices are echoing losses amid concerns over gloomy outlook for the global economy. However, partial turnaround was triggered in both the benchmark indices but still under pressure. The Sensex is trading below the 10000 mark and Nifty below 3000 mark. Further, the plummeting prices in the commodity market have increased the selling pressure in sectors like Metal, Auto, Oil & Gas and Realty. The market breadth is extremely negative as nearly 1745 stocks are trading in negative territory against 484 are in the positive.
At 1.30PM, the BSE Sensex is trading lower by 229 points at 9940 and NSE Nifty is declined by 74 points at 2990.
The BSE Mid Cap is trading lower by 94 points at 3395 and Small cap is trading down by 120 points at 3991.
Losers from the BSE are Tata Motors plunged by (11.06%) at Rs203.00, Tata Steel Ltd by (10.85%) at Rs218.25 along with Hindalco Ind Ltd by (9.88%) at Rs54.70, Sterlite Ind (9.32%) at Rs240.40, HDFC by (7.46%) at Rs1762.90, Maruti Suzuki by (6.44%) at Rs607.50 and Ranbaxy Lab by (6.43%) at Rs241.60.
The BSE Metal index is losing by 458.60 points at 5160.85. Scrips trading lower are Tata Steel by (10.85%) at Rs218.25 followed by Sterlite Ind by (10.05%) at Rs.Hindalco Ind by (9.56%) at Rs54.90, Welspun Gujarat by (7.98%) at Rs111.90 and Ispat Ind by (6.42%) at Rs12.40.
The BSE Oil & Gas index is trading lower by 244 points at 6152.85 as scrip trading down are Reliance Petroleum by (6.80%) at Rs.93.25, Essar Oil by (6.65%) at Rs78.60 along with Reliance Ind Ltd by (4.20%) at Rs1260.30, Cairn Ind by (5.19%) at Rs146.20, Aban Offshore by (3.56%) at Rs1045.00 and Gail India is trading down by (3.40%) at Rs216.00.
From the telecommunication sector, Idea Cellular is trading lower by (8.42%) at Rs43.50 followed by Bharti Airtel trading down by (5.89%) at Rs627.00, Reliance Com Ltd by (2.53%) at Rs229.50 and Tata Communication by (1.23%) at Rs428.05.
In auto sector Tata Motors is trading down by (11.30%) at Rs202.45 along with Maruti Suzuki lower by (7.04%) at Rs603.00, Hero Honda Motors by (4.17%) at Rs777.70 and M&M Ltd down by (3.09%) at Rs369.00.
From cement sector by Grasim Indus is trading up by (1.32%) at Rs1,179.90, while ACC Ltd trading lower by (2.99%) at Rs439.10 and Ambuja Cements is down by (0.21%) at Rs47.80.
During the session, steel major Tata steel is trading lower by (10.85%) at Rs218.25 on account of lower outlook by Moody''s Investors Service on corporate family rating to negative from stable due to weak operating environment at its UK unit Corus group. The change in outlook reflects more challenging conditions for the company’s UK unit.
