The markets today open lower in line with the Asian peers. The selling pressure is seen among across the board mainly led by the Realty, IT, Metal, Banking and Auto stocks. The BSE Sensex has slipped below the 13400 level and the NSE Nifty below the 4050 mark in the opening trade.
The BSE Mid Cap and the BSE Small Cap stocks are also trading lower in the early trade.
The overall market breadth is negative as 545 stocks are advancing whereas 900 stocks are declining on BSE.
Jai Prakash Associate reported the top gainer from the BSE Sensex pack, as it is trading with a gain of (2.87%) at Rs.127.05 while TCS reported the top loser down by (2.79%) at Rs.670.95.
At 10.30AM, the BSE Sensex was down by 205.14 points at 13,342.04 and the Nifty was down by 62.70 points to 4,047.85.
The BSE Mid Cap decreased by 42.48 points to 5,050.57 and the BSE Small Cap slipped by 10.16 points to 6,039.87.
BSE Realty index dropped by 93.14 points or (2.43%) to trade at 3,747.07. The top losers are India Bull Real decreased by (3.91%) to Rs.190.30, Mahindra Life down by (2.55%) to Rs.365.60, HDIL declined by (2.50%) to Rs.205 followed by DLF fell by (1.54%) to Rs.383.
BSE IT index slipped by 72.85 points or (2.18%) to trade at 3,275.57. The major losers are HCL Technologies, TCS, Wipro and Infosys Technologies fell by (3.70%), (3.07%), (2.11%) and (1.92%) to Rs.216.15, Rs.669, Rs.245.45 and Rs.1,476 respectively.
SAIL is trading lower by (2.22%) at Rs.138.95. The company is planning to invest Rs150 crore for setting up a steel processing unit in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir.
ONGC is trading lower by 3.03%) at Rs.1,038.60. The government yesterday has decided not to raise the price of gas produced from fields operated by state-run firms ONGC
