Indian Markets extend its losses on heavy selling over the counters ahead of inflation data for the week ended 30th August 2008, due to be released today after market hours. The market had opened weak tracking subdued Asian markets and slipped further deeper into red. NSE Nifty is trading below 4,300 level and BSE Sensex is around 14,300 mark. Most of the selling is visible in Oil & Gas, Capital Goods, Bank, Metal, Reality and Power stocks. Among the Sensex pack, 28 stocks are trading in red, while 2 are in green.
At 1.31PM, the BSE Sensex is trading lower by 349.44 points at 14,313.17 and NSE Nifty is down by 110.35 points at 4,289.90.
The BSE Mid Cap and Small cap are trading lower by 66.64 points and 66.34 points at 5,642.28 and 6,837.08 respectively.
Losers from the BSE are Bharti Airtel trading down by (4.18%) at Rs778.00 in line with Reliance Infra by (4.06%) at Rs992.90, Reliance by (3.91%) at Rs2,002.00, ICICI Bank Ltd by (3.78%) at Rs674.05, DLF Ltd by (3.65%) at Rs483.70, ONGC Ltd by (3.50%) at Rs1,038.90, JP Associates by (3.40%) at Rs162.10 and HDFC (3.00%) at Rs2,250.00.
The BSE Oil & Gas index is down by 306.47 points at Rs9,360.91. Scrips trading lower are Reliance (4.12%) at Rs1,997.80 followed by ONGC Ltd by (3.39%) at Rs1,040.10 , IOC (3.13%) at Rs409.65, Reliance Pet (2.46%) at Rs154.70 and Aban Offshore by (2.35%) at Rs2,297.00.
The BSE Capital Goods index is trading lower by 237.96 points at Rs11,995.84 as Usha Martin is trading down by (7.04%) at Rs71.35 along with Suzlon Energy (6.28%) at Rs228.50, Elecon Eng C (4.68%) at Rs111.00, Punj Lloyd by (3.14%) at Rs291.30 and Jyoti Struct (2.87%) at Rs123.35.
From the telecommunication sector, Bharti Airtel is trading down by (3.57%) at Rs783.00 along with Tata Communications by (2.61%) at Rs434.00, Idea Cellular down by (2.45%) at Rs83.60 and Reliance Com Ltd by (1.35%) at Rs398.00.
In auto sector Tata Motors is up by (0.45%) at Rs421.50 while Maruti Suzuki is lower by (1.33%) at Rs686.45 followed by M&M Ltd down by (0.87%) at Rs572.00 and Hero Honda Motors by (0.75%) at Rs831.55.
From cement sector Ambuja Cement is trading lower by (2.44%) at Rs81.80, followed by Grasim Indus down by (1.58%) at Rs2,013.10 and ACC Ltd by (1.06%) at Rs597.10
