Sensex Slips Over 100pts; Infosys Drops 5% - July 24, 2008

The Sensex opened with a positive gap of 140 points at 15,082, and touched a high of 15,130 in early trades. Profit-taking at higher levels forced the index slip into the negative zone and is now down 122 points at 14,820.

The NSE Nifty is down 16 points at 4,461.

ONGC has soared 5.5% to Rs 1,049. DFL and Tata Motors have advanced nearly 2% each to Rs 505 and Rs 445, respectively.

Reliance Infrastructure and Mahindra & Mahindra have gained 1.5% each at Rs 1,030 and Rs 562, respectively.

Grasim is up over 1% at Rs 1,851.

TCS has slumped 6.5% to Rs 804. Infosys has plunged 5.3% to Rs 1,519. Satyam and Wipro have shed 2.7% each at Rs 367 and Rs 397, respectively.

Tata Steel and Hindalco have dropped 2% each to Rs 653 and Rs 149, respectively.

NTPC, Hindustan Unilever and SBI have declined 1.7% each to Rs 187, Rs 227 and Rs 1,517, respectively.

BHEL and Reliance Communications are down 1.5% each at Rs 1,744 and Rs 517, respectively.
