The market today opens flat and suddenly turned volatile. The buying emerged in the selective scrips mainly led by the Capital Goods, FMCG and Power stocks. However, the Bank, Metal, Oil & Gas and Consumer durables stocks are trading in red in the opening trade. The BSE Mid Cap and BSE Small Cap are however trading higher.
The overall market breadth is positive as 752 stocks are advancing whereas 515 stocks are declining on BSE.
ONGC reported the top gainer from the BSE Sensex pack, as it is trading with a gain of (2.64%) at Rs.1,009 while ICICI Bank the top loser down by (4.86%) at Rs.624.95.
At 10.30AM, the BSE Sensex was up by 11.60 points at 14,286.54 and the Nifty was up by 10.35 points to 4,322.20.
The BSE Mid Cap increased by 31.52 points to 5,604.11 and the BSE Small Cap advanced by 54.09 points to 6,832.87.
BSE Capital Goods index advanced by 54.75 points to trade at 11,793.02. The top gainers are Praj Industries increased by (2.46%) to Rs.202, BHEL up by (2.36%) to Rs.1,694, L&T inclined by (1.49%) to Rs2,664.80 followed by Siemens improved by (1.32%) to Rs.560.
BSE Bank index dropped by 92.54 points to trade at 6,659.32. The major losers are ICICI Bank, AXIX Bank, Kotak Bank and Bank of Baroda fell by (4.80%), (2.04%), (2.06%) and (1.49%) to Rs.625.30, Rs.698, Rs.548.10 and Rs.248.50 respectively.
Reliance Infrastructure Ltd. is trading higher by (0.63%) at Rs.990. The company is planning a joint venture with China''s Shanghai Electric Corp to set up a Rs.120 billion power equipment plant in India by 2010
