Mkts: Suzlon, Cairn India Hog The Limelight @ 11:15 Hrs

Suzlon Energy has announced that it will acquire Areva's total stake of approximately 30% in REpower Systems AG, Germany (REpower). This acquisition will consolidate the company's total holding in REpower to approximately 66%. The Suzlon Energy stock, among the prominent gainers in the Nifty pack, is up by around 3.25% at Rs 278.20.

Cairn India (up 8.6% to Rs 286.65) remains the top gainer in the Nifty. The stock has moved up on reports that the company has secured exploration licence to explore for oil and natural gas in the Mannar basin by the government of Srilanka.

Sterlite Industries (4.95%), HCL Technologies (2.15%) and BPCL (1.4%) are among the other prominent gainers in the Nifty which is down with a small loss of 3.50 points at 4673.45 at present.

The Sensex is down 29.54 points or 0.19% from its previous closing mark, at 15,740.18. However, thanks to some strong buying at several midcap and smallcap counters, the market breadth remains fairly positive at the moment.

BHEL tops the list of Sensex gainers. At Rs 1474.50, the stock has gained a little over 2%. HDFC is up by around 1.8%. Reliance Infrastructure, Satyam Computer Services, HDFC Bank, Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys Technologies, Ambuja Cements, ICICI Bank, Reliance Industries and Tata Motors are up with smart gains. Jaiprakash Associates and Reliance Communications are up marginally over their previous closing levels.

Wipro has declined sharply to Rs 510.55, netting a loss of 1.95%. ONGC has come off its low, but at Rs 928, it is still down with a sharp loss of 1.35%. Hindustan Unilever, DLF, NTPC, State Bank of India, ITC, Cipla, Hindalco, Larsen & Toubro and Grasim Industries are the other prominent losers.

India Bulls Real Estate, which was among the favourite stocks of the bears in the past few sessions, has bounced back strongly today. At Rs 405.45, the realty stock has gained as much as 13.85% now.

Nicholas Piramal, Voltas, Engineers India, India Bulls Financial Services, Godrej Industries, Glenmark Pharmaceuticals ,Videocon Industries, Max India, Gujarat NRE Coke, Rajesh Exports, Tata Chemicals, MTNL, Punjab Lloyd, Central Bank of India and Bharat Earth Movers have also risen sharply today.
