Even as the broad market continues to languish in the red with sharp losses after a highly negative start, a few stocks from the pharma sector have moved up sharply on strong buying support. The BSE Healthcare index, the lone gainer among the sectoral indices, is up by around 0.2% at present.
At 14,848.94, the Sensex is 336.38 points or 2.22% behind its previous closing mark. The Nifty is down with a loss of 2.08% or 94.20 points at 4429.40.

Aurobindo Pharma has gained nearly 3.5% at Rs 312.25. Sun Pharmaceuticals, a Nifty stock, is up with a sharp gain of 2.7% at Rs 1481. Earlier this morning, the stock had progressed to Rs 1497.40 aftre opening at Rs 1435.
Lupin is up by around 2.2% at Rs 704. Dishman Pharma has notched up a gain of 1.85%. Divi's Laboratories and Matrix Laboratories are up by 1.4% and 1.1% respectively. IPCA Laboratories, Biocon and Sun Pharma Advanced Research have posted modest gains and Dr. Reddy's Laboratories is up marginally over its previous closing price.
Deccan Chronicle Holdings rallied smartly to Rs 119.45 on strong buying support. Though it has come off that level now, at Rs 116.70, the stock is up with a handsome gain of 7.3%. Idea Cellular has gained 3.85% at Rs 100.70. Spice Telecom is up by around 3.3% at Rs 59.40.
Deccan Aviation, Shriram Transports, Cairn India, Sun TV Network, Max India and Bharat Forge have also posted notable gains.
Among Sensex stocks, Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra have edged up marginally into the positive territory.
HDFC, the most prominent loser in the Sensex, is down by 6.4%. DLF has lost 6.2%. BHEL is down by over 5%. HDFC Bank has lost 4.4%. Jaiprakash Associates and ICICI Bank are down by 3.95% and 3.55% respectively.
State Bank of India, NTPC, Bharti Airtel, Ambuja Cements, Maruti Suzuki, Ranbaxy Laboratories, Satyam Computer Services and Larsen & Toubro trail their previous closing levels by 2% - 4%.
ONGC, Hindalco, Reliance Industries, Infosys Technologies, Tata Consultancy Services and Tata Steel are also down in the negative territory with sharp losses.
