Market opens flat. - June 17, 2008

The market today open flat and is witnessing a bit of volatility in the early trade. Some significant buying witnessed in the Realty, Auto, Power and Capital Goods stocks. However, the Oil & Gas stocks are in pressure in the opening trade. The BSE Sensex is trading near the 15400 mark and the NSE Nifty is trading below the 4600 mark. The BSE Mid Cap and BSE Small Cap are also trading higher in the opening trade.

The overall market breadth is positive as 1031 stocks are advancing whereas 543 stocks are declining on BSE.

Jai Prakash Associate reported the top gainer from the BSE Sensex pack, as it is trading with a gain of (2.34%) at Rs.183.70 while Reliance Communication the top loser down by (1.33%) at Rs.525.25.

At 10.30AM, the BSE Sensex was marginally up by 0.73 points at 15,396.56 and the Nifty was up by 0.80 points to 4,573.30.

The BSE Mid Cap increased by 32.76 points to 6,332.49 and the BSE Small Cap advanced by 38.55 points to 7,707.67.

BSE Realty index improved by 128.50 points to trade at 5,999.37. The major gainers are India Bull Real, Unitech, Sobha Developers and Parsavnath grew by (4.38%), (2.78%), (1.50%) and (1.23%) to Rs.415.80, Rs.203.30, Rs.409 and Rs.169.15 respectively.

BSE Capital Goods index advanced by 108.65 points to trade at 12,211.85. The top gainers are BHEL inclined by (1.89%) to Rs1556.35, Siemens increased by (1.33%) at Rs.494.80 followed by Punj Lloyd and L&T up by (0.88%) and (0.42%) to Rs.269.25 and Rs.2748.50.

Tata Steel is trading higher by (0.32%) at Rs.851.65. The company has formed a joint venture for the power project in Orissa. The company is setting up a Rs 675-crore coal-fired power station in Orissa in alliance with Hyderabad-based Jasper Industries.
