Market Today Opens Significantly Higher

The market today opens significantly higher on the back of positive cues from the Asian markets. The buying support is seen in the Capital Goods, Power, Consumer Durables and Metal stocks. However, the banking stocks are trading marginally down in the openig trade. The BSE Sensex is hovering around the 16400 mark and the NSE Nifty is trading around the 4900 mark. The Mid Cap and Small Cap are also trading in line with the benchmark index.

The overall market breadth is positive as 1191 stocks are advancing whereas 436 stocks are declining on BSE.

At 10.30AM, the BSE Sensex was up by 91.88 points at 16,440.38 and the Nifty was up by 40.80 points to 4,915.85.

The BSE Mid Cap increased by 66.90 points to 6,827.67 and the BSE Small Cap advanced by 94.85 points to 8,413.05.

BHEL reported the top gainer from the BSE Sensex pack. It is trading with a gain of 3.95% at Rs.1,721 while HUL reported the top loser down by 1.32% at Rs.228.20.

BSE Power index advanced by 50.77 points to trade at 3,177.09. The major gainers are Reliance Energy, Suzlon Energy, NTPC and Power Grid grew by (1.99%), (1.36%), (0.51%) and (0.35%) to Rs.1270.95, Rs.309.20, Rs.176.45 and Rs.100 respectively.

BSE Capital Goods index surged by 212.80 points to trade at 13,046.48. The top gainers are BHEL inclined by (3.95%) to Rs.1,721, ABB increased by (2.68%) at Rs.1,020 followed by L&T and Simens up by (1.53%) and (0.89%) to Rs.2,789.80 and Rs.585.05.

BHEL is trading higher by (3.42%) at Rs.1,712.35. The company has bagged Rs 1,150 crore turnkey contract for setting up an energy efficient 153 MW captive power plant at Bhatinda in Punjab.

State Bank of India advanced by (0.47%) at Rs.1,545.20. The bank hikes rates on long term deposites. The bank announced an increase of 25 to 50 basis points in interest rate on deposits of tenures of two years and above.
