The market today opens significantly lower on the back of weak cues from the Asian markets. The Capital Goods, Bank, IT and Oil & Gas stocks came into pressure ih the early trade. However, the Metal stocks are trading with satisfactory gains in the opening trade. The Mid Cap and Small Cap are also trading in positive.
The overall market breadth is positive as 1020 stocks are advancing whereas 734 stocks are declining on BSE.
At 10.30AM, the BSE Sensex was down by 131.78 points at 17,303.15 and the Nifty was down by 36.10 points to 5,121.60.
The BSE Mid Cap increased by 1.91 points to 7,131.61 and the BSE Small Cap advanced by 56.61 points to 8,676.88.
ACC reported the top gainer from the BSE Sensex pack. It is trading with a gain of 1.76% at Rs.692 while Wipro reported the top loser down by 2.60% at Rs.493.
BSE Metal surged by 258.80 points to trade at 17,316.81. The top gainers are Sterlite Industries inclined by (5.52%) to Rs.945.05, Jindal Saw increased by (2.53%) at Rs.605.80 followed by JSW Steel and SAIL up by (1.98%) and (1.85%) to Rs.1,133 and Rs.189.05.
BSE Capital Goods index dropped by 93.94 points to trade at 13,602.81. The major losers are BHEL, L&T, ABB and Siemens grew by (1.39%), (1.34%), (1.20%) and (1.01%) to Rs.1,773.90, Rs.2,958.70, Rs.1,058.95 and Rs.576.50 respectively.
SAIL is trading higher by (1.85%) at Rs.189.80. The company enters into a memorandum of understanding with the construction equipment company Bharat Earth Movers Ltd for supply of earth moving equipment and spares. As per the agreement, SAIL shall purchase a total of 261 mining equipment worth Rs477 crore over a period of next three years.
