Market Drifts Down Further

The market drifts down further on the back of negative cues from the global markets. The market opened with a heavy gap down and keeps on trading on the back foot as the selling pressures prevails across the sectoral indices. The market breadth is very weak as 2244 stocks are trading in red while 171 stocks are trading in green.

At 11.36AM, BSE Sensex is trading lower by 581 points at 16,542 and NSE Nifty is trading down by 171.5 points at 4,749.50.

The market will remain closed from 11:45 IST to 12:25 IST due to sun outage. Trading time has been extended till 16:15 IST. The changes in timings will be applicable from today to 18 March 2008.

Losers from the BSE are Adlabs Films trading down by (11.47%) at Rs619.95 along with Indbull real by (11.16%) at Rs483, Yes bank by (10.21%) at Rs182.50, Reliance energy by (10.07%) at Rs1312.50, India bulls by (9.78%) at Rs447.80, Deccan aviation by (9.59%) at Rs138.15, Welspun Guj by (9.55%) at Rs350, Union bank by (9.55%) at Rs138.30.

The Oil & Gas index is trading lower by 350.7 points 9,979.98. Pulling it are RNRL trading down by (7.74%) at 110.90 along with Aban Offshore by (5.41%) at Rs3550, Essar Oil by (5.30%) at Rs220.50, IOCL by (4.64%) at Rs502, Gail India by (3.06%) at Rs390.75, BPCL by (2.11%) at Rs440.20, ONGC by (2.01%) at Rs968.05, HPCL by (1.86%) at Rs279.70.

The Realty index is trading down by 484.22 points at 7,851.26 as Indbull Real trading lower by (11.16%) at Rs483 in line with Ansal Infra by (6.49%) at Rs178.55, Akruti City by (6.16%) at Rs922, Anant Raj by (5.90%) at Rs254.45, Sobha Developers by (5.54%) at Rs747, Phoenix mill by (4.66%) at Rs397.10, Penland by (4.38%) at Rs76.50 and Omaxe by (4.22%) at Rs212.25.

Infosys is trading lower by (3.58)% at Rs1426. The company is looking for opportunities for acquisitions in the markets of Europe and Japan within a price band of $200-$300mn to energise its non-linear business strategy. It is targeting companies engaged in consulting, BPO, packaged implementation services.
