MUMBAI: The market opened higher Thursday as investors bought stocks after the previous day’s fall tracking advances in stocks overseas. Power metal and realty share led the rally. At 10:05 am, the Bombay Stock Exchange’s Sensex was up 205 points or 1.16 per cent at 17,822.75. Biggest Sensex gainers were Reliance Energy (3.13%), Hindalco Industries (2.49%), Tata Motors (1.88%), HDFC Bank (1.86%), Tata Steel (1.86%), NTPC (1.84%) and Bajaj Auto (1.65%).
The were no losers in the 30-share index The National Stock Exchange’s Nifty was up 64 points or 1.23 per cent at 5218.10. Asian shares rose driven by export firms. The Nikkei 225 added 2.38 per cent, the Hang Seng gained 1.45 per cent and the Straits Times rose 1.3 per cent.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average shot up 0.73 per cent, Standard & Poor's 500 Index gained 0.83 per cent and Nasdaq Composite Index advanced 0.91 per cent.
