Forex Reserve Up By $ 3.418 bn

MUMBAI: Foreign exchange reserves increased by over USD three billion for the second consecutive week ended January 25.

The forex reserves increased by USD 3.418 billion to stand at USD 288.316 billion during the week In the week ago period, reserves had increased by USD 3.169 billion to USD 284.889 billion.

Foreign currency assets during the period were up USD 3.411 billion at USD 279.545 billion as against USD 276.134 billion in the week ago period, the Reserve Bank data stated.

Foreign Currency Assets expressed in US dollar terms included the effect of appreciation or depreciation of other currencies such as the Euro, Pound Sterling and Yen, held in its reserves, it said.

Country's reserve position in the International Monetary Fund increased by USD one million to USD 434 million during the week.

Gold reserves remained static at USD 8.328 billion while Special Drawing Rights (SDRs) increased by USD six million to stand at USD nine million.
