Tamil Nadu unveils new industrial policy

CHENNAI: The new industrial policy announced by Tamil Nadu government on Monday is targeting to create additional two million jobs by 2011 and raising the contribution of the manufacturing sector to 27% by then from the present 21% of state GDP.

The policy focuses on employability-based incentives for new investments, rather than offering incentives using investments as benchmark.

Considerable attention has been given in the policy to double exports from the state to Rs 1,40,000 crore by 2011.
