Indices open higher on SBI, HDFC support

MUMBAI: Equities opened on a positive note on Friday in line with its Asian peers. At 10:05 am, the Bombay Stock Exchange’s Sensex was up 128 points or 0.68 per cent at 19,131.64.

Biggest Sensex gainers were HDFC (up 2.11%), State Bank of India (2.04%), DLF (1.38%), HDFC Bank (1.24%), Hindalco Industries (1.16%), Reliance Energy (0.98%) and Bharti Airtel (0.97%).

Bajaj Auto (down 0.82%), Ambuja Cements (0.2%), ICICI Bank (0.19%) and ONGC (0.11%) were the losers.

The National Stock Exchange’s Nifty was at 5691.8, higher by 52 points or 1.02 per cent.

“Yesterday, Nifty opened positive and made a high of 5725 but could not sustain on higher levels and fell sharply. Intraday, Nifty has resistance in the range of 5700 to 5720 and it has support at 5595 and if it breaks that then it can come down to 5538,” said Emkay Share and Stock Broking.

Asian markets were moderately higher. The Nikkei was up 0.96 per cent, the Hang Seng was 0.61 per cent higher and the Straits Times was up 1.22 per cent.
