New Delhi: National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) has signed an agreement with Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) for execution of its electromechanical works package of its 44 MW Chutak Hydroelectric Project in Kargil district of Jammu and Kashmir at a cost of Rs 227.73 crore.
The works to be executed under this package include design, manufacture, testing and commissioning works of turbines, generators and all other electrical and mechanical auxiliaries, an NHPC release said here.
The Chutak project would harness the hydropower potential of river Suru in Kargil. The barrage of the project is located near village Sarzhe and the power house in near village Chutak. The project is expected to generate 212.93 million units in a 90 per cent dependable year, it said.
