MUMBAI: The market opened on a firm note on Monday, led by heavyweights Reliance Industries, ONGC and Bharti Airtel. The Nifty crossed the 4900 mark.
At 10 am, the National Stock Exchange’s Nifty was at 4896.6, higher by 50 points or 1.22 per cent from the previous close.
The Bombay Stock Exchange’s Sensex was up 192 points or 1.16 per cent at 16,756.22.
Biggest Sensex gainers were ICICI Bank (up 2.93%), Bharti Airtel (2.87%), Reliance Energy (2.52%), State Bank of India (2.03%) and Reliance Communications (1.84%)
There were no laggards in the 30-share index.
Market breadth on BSE showed 636 advances and 68 declines, while on NSE, 619 shares gained and 154 fell.
