Market open weak, tracking negative global cues

MUMBAI: Stocks opened weak Monday, tracking negative global cues, but bounced off lows with help from consumer durables and capital goods shares. Technology and banking stocks were the worst hit.

At 10:05 am, the National Stock Exchange’s Nifty was down 33 points or 0.74 per cent at 4476.30.

The Bombay Stock Exchange’s Sensex was 90 points or 0.57 per cent lower at 15,501.33.

Biggest Sensex losers were HDFC (down 4.29%), Wipro (2.8%), Grasim Industries (2.24%), Tata Consultancy Services (2.07%) and ONGC (1.79%).

Bajaj Auto, which opened marginally higher, was the only gainer on the 30-share index.

The market breadth showed 807 declines and 632 advances on BSE
