Mutual funds turn buyers in equities

Mutual funds (MFs) bought shares worth Rs 22.80 crore Monday, 13 August 2007. They had sold shares worth a net Rs 169.80 crore on Friday, 10 August 2007.

Mutual funds' net inflow of Rs 22.80 crore on 13 August 2007 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 300.10 crore and gross sales of Rs 277.20 crore. The BSE 30-share Sensex surged 148.96 points, or 1%, to 15,017.21 on that day.

Mutual funds bought shares worth Rs 420.20 crore in the first few days in the month of August 2007, till 13 August 2007. Mutual funds sold equities worth Rs 900.60 crore in the month of July 2007.

Mutual funds had pumped in Rs 9062.34 crore in Indian equity market in the financial year ended March 2007.
