Mutual funds step up buying of equities

Mutual funds (MFs) bought shares worth Rs 523 crore on Monday, 30 July 2007. They had bought shares worth a net Rs 251.60 crore on Friday, 27 July 2007. Mutual funds' net inflow of Rs 523 crore on 30 July 2007 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 1094 crore and gross sales of Rs 571 crore. The BSE 30-share Sensex rose 26.34 points or 0.17% at 15,260.91 on that day. Mutual funds sold equities worth Rs 1,087.09 crore in the month of July, till 30 July 2007. Mutual funds had pumped in Rs 9062.34 crore in Indian equity market in the financial year ended March 2007.
